Job Summary:
The Associate Director of Youth Support Services is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in current standing with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Under the general direction of the Deputy Director, the Associate Director will be responsible for strengthening YA’s continuum of support services and integrative health model, leading and supervising a professional team of case managers, therapists, and interns who are providing strengths-based prevention, counseling, and intervention services for children, youth, and parents. The AD will maintain and nurture partner relationships, ensuring effective communication of agency policy, mission, values, and decisions to stakeholders, including staff, partners, funders, and the community. As a critical member of the Leadership Team, the AD will be responsible for the development and implementation of high-quality services using innovative models, such as the Transcultural Engagement Model, Healing Informed Best Practices, and Restorative Justice Healing Schools Model. Collaborate with the Leadership Team to promote self-determination and empowerment for youth and families. Additionally, lead grant writing efforts, build community partnerships, and drive sustainable growth of youth and family services.
The AD will oversee the strategic direction and operations of all youth and family support programs, internship pathways, and budgets. The AD will also lead the development and implementation of innovative approaches to positive youth development, including establishing restorative justice healing and integrative health models at the Youth Impact Centers. As an internal and external expert, the AD will provide guidance and expertise on effective strategies for working with promise and high-promise youth, ensuring our programs are tailored to meet their unique needs and promote their growth and success.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Leadership & Management
Provides overall management, vision, planning, and direction for all youth programs, budgets, staffing, and clients.
Builds key relationships with school districts, collaborative partners, parent/guardian/family, and other community networks related to programs and services.
Serves on the Leadership Team for general agency oversight; program strategic direction, community collaborations and partnerships.
Provide regular reports to the Deputy Director regarding program performance and annual end-of-year report with recommendations for improvement and/or adjustments as appropriate for an increase of funds and services.
Programs & Services
Provides guidance and key decision-making for programs, budgets, staffing, and clients.
Manage and support the Lead Social Worker/Therapist in his/her work with Social Workers and provide central oversight for programs that Social Workers manage across all school sites.
Oversight of MSW Social Work Interns including one-on-one clinical supervision hours (weekly) and approval of MSW Intern hours.
Support YA’s Internship program of BSW Social Work Interns.
Oversees the implementation of policies and practices to ensure the consistent quality of service delivery and compliance with contractual obligations and regulatory bodies.
Develops and implements standards of care and assists staff to work effectively and efficiently for the community.
Plans, organizes, coordinates, monitors and evaluates program components to ensure that youth programs are providing high-quality services that are cost-effective, well-staffed, and able to meet program funding contract requirements and guidelines in a timely manner.
Convene and facilitate regular meetings with program units and cross-functional teams to assess progress and identify challenges related to internal processes, implementation mechanisms, and evaluation methodologies.
Assists the Leadership Team in the planning and modification of program, and plans for new or existing program activities and operations.
School, Family, and Community Collaborations & Networks
Provides input into effective community marketing activities and referral processes designed to increase the community’s awareness of YA programs and services.
Provides key external communications related to programs and services, including participation in meetings, events, conferences, trainings, and convenings.
Supports the agency for all collaborations and networks to sustain, improve youth pathways, and develop restorative youth-centered and culturally relevant programs.
Design referral and care continuums, create materials for and facilitate training around the systems and integration of the systems into other YA programming, and manage implementation of the systems across school sites and YSS programs.
Talent Development
Supports onboarding and development; oversees and conducts performance evaluations and improvement plans as required, and coordinates the deployment of staff consistent with program needs.
Schedules, plans, and conducts staff meetings and staff development as needed, providing oversight and motivation to staff, volunteers, and interns.
Work with staff to develop and implement standards of care and assist staff and teams to work effectively and efficiently for the community.
Responsible for the development and coordination of an agency staff development plan, agency calendar, and staff recognition/appreciation plan, and cultural competency plan.
Provide subject matter expertise and lead monthly Professional Development sessions for Social Workers.
Development, Fiscal Management, Grant Management, and Program Evaluation
Supports YA’s relationships with evaluators to ensure that program data collection methods are aligned with funder requirements, and consistent with the evaluators’ needs. Reviews YA Programs data and submits monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports as necessary; assures the effective implementation and successful completion of program requirements.
Participates in creating draft annual department and programs budgets.
An active participant in resource development efforts.
Other
Work with the Deputy Director of Administration and Organizational Effectiveness to develop critical processes and protocols for effective and efficient agency and program implementation.
Be on-call support for YA programs crisis management (e.g., conducting crisis interventions and risk assessments, deciding if a student needs a 5150)
Provides staff support and advocacy to key agency initiatives, Board committees, and citizen groups as assigned by the CEO.
Educate and advocate for culturally relevant, community centered Youth Support Services, Restorative Justice, and School Based Intervention Models.
Other duties as assigned.
Employment Standards:
Training and Experience: Board of Behavioral Sciences registered Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Experience working with youth or families in a school or agency setting. Minimum of three years experience supervising staff. Clinical experience providing mental health services in the community across different populations (including children and youth) and levels of severity of mental health issues.
License: License in Clinical Social Work from the Board of Behavioral Sciences. A valid CA driver’s license, current car insurance, and a good driving record as recommended by a DMV report and eligibility for class B license if required by assignment.
